Who Are We

Who Are We

There is no question that the the times we are living in are often difficult and can leave us very confused. Between COVID 19, social unrest in our nation and the moral ambiguity affecting our society today, it can be hard to find solid ground to stand on. But for those of us who are in Christ Jesus, we have an anchor for the soul, who will never let us down.  We have a solid rock to build our lives on, as Jesus himself describes in Matthew 7:24-25, "24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock."

In Matthew 16:16-18, Jesus having asked the apostles, whom they believed him to be,  16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. 18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."  The rock upon which Jesus said he would build his church was not Peter, but rather the truth that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God.   Here at the Rockville Church of Christ, we are striving to be a congregation of Christ's disciples that is built on that truth.  In everything we do, we desire to pattern ourselves after the church that began on the Day of Pentecost, as Acts 2 describes, a church that is striving to preach and teach the Word of God in everything, but also makes application of the Word to our everyday lives.  In an ever changing world, God's Holy Word is the one absolute that we can wholly depend upon and live by.

At Rockville, we also want to be a place where everyone can belong.  A place where people from every walk of life can find understanding, nurturing and unconditional love.  We hope that you will accept our invitation to come and join us, to meet our church family in person, or meet with us online, both here or on our website, Facebook or YouTube pages.  We also invite you to feel free to contact us at your convenience, at (301) 279-7977, or email us at rockvillechurchofchrist@comcast.net.
